MIDEEYE Project Convenes Senior Somali Government Officials in Helsinki

FCA Somalia Country Office, in partnership with the Peacemakers Network, and with collaboration of the MFA Finland and the key stakeholders from national government and administration, and federal government ministries of Somalia, collaborated under the MIDEEYE project to realize a Learning Exchange Visit to Helsinki, Finland.

On February 12th a delegation of senior Somalia government representatives arrived in Helsinki for a 5-day learning exchange. During the visit, the delegation met and exchanged with various Finnish experts and local governance professionals and civil servants working on the topics related to the Rule of Law and Good Governance, and Reconciliation and Service Delivery.

The Director of the Rule of Law Center, the former Minister of Justice, Tuija Brax, leading a session on the rule of law at Helsinki University.

The delegation meeting with Inka Hopsu, a representative of the Parliament and Member of the Friendship Group for the Horn of Africa at the Finnish Parliament House of Finland.

Meeting with different NGOs who are working in Somalia and with peace processes at FCA HQ.

A media debate with the delegation and the Somali diaspora in Finland to disucss the peace work, challenges, and the current state of Somalia.

About the MIDEEYE Project

MIDEEYE seeks to increase national capacity to effectively implement and operationalize National Reconciliation Framework in the Federal Government and to strengthen inclusive governance and administration for effective basic service delivery in selected Federal Member States. Funding for the MIDEEYE project is part of the MFA Finland’s Country Programme for Somalia. The MIDEEYE project is in line with the Country Programme’s objectives concerning state building and peace building.
