Youth Faith-Based Mediators
Youth play a pivitol role in preventing and addressing conflicts around the world; yet, their role as peace mediators is often dismissed or overlooked across all tracks due to their age. Youth faith-based mediators (YFBMs) are young mediators in all of their diversity between the age of 18 and 35, who are working to prevent and mitigate violence through values and tools inspired by faith or who are working with faith-based institutions or initiatives.
Youth Religion and Mediation Course
In order to address the lack of engagement and opportunities for young peace mediators, members of the Network designed and launched a Youth, Religion and Mediation course in 2023. The training equips young peace mediators with tools to analyze violent conflicts with religious dimensions, approaches to advance more inclusive mediation processes and skills-building opportunities to strengthen their peace mediation work within their communities.
As part of the 2023 Helsinki course, the first cohort identified the following challenges and support needs to aid them in their peace mediation work.
